Well, I understand the idea of that scene in movie, but they  completely destroyed.
Creators wanted to do with the Masquerade a real ball for the upper classes. I think.
So, Raoul has the same costume as the original in POTO. That's a plus.
Christine and a rest of guests have a ball costumes on the masquerade. No. Just a guests (and Madame Giry, Meg, Carlotta etc.) have a ball costumes on the masquerade. They have a masks! Or something strange gowns, suits etc. Christine has a normal elegant (for that century) dress. Why she hasn't a mask? Or something what she could worn or carrying on the masquerade? And of course, she worn a crinoline. Great.
Most people knows, what I think about crinoline.
Anyway, if creators wanted make a real  ball, they could give all a masks. Wait. All people in that scene have a masks, only Christine hasn't. I don't know why.
Her dress completly doesn't fit to the rest of the people. Everybody worn something white, gold, black or they mixed these colors, and only Christine worn pink dress. I understand, that her dress had a contrast with Phantom's costume, but her outfit is for another opportunity.

And the choreography in this scene is awful.
